General

  1. What is TailTrax?
    • See Our Story
  2. Why was TailTrax created?
    • Founder, Matt Gelfand, realized his passion when his family lost their two dogs, Max and Rocky, to illness. Matt has made it his mission to improve pet health by providing a way to predict potential health issues through connecting litter mates, using TailTrax.
  3. Will TailTrax help me if I have a rescue?
    • At TailTrax, the rescue community has not been forgotten. By providing information (Ex: Shelter Name, Rescue Organization) along with many other search options, TailTrax provides rescue dogs the best opportunity to date to connect with litter mates.
  4. What are the costs for TailTrax?
    • Tailtrax is completely free, without hidden costs or in-app purchases.
  5. Is TailTrax just for dogs?
    • Although our initial launch is exclusively dog centric, we understand the love pet parents have for all of their furry or feathered family members. Therefore, plans are underway to expand the reach and benefits of TailTrax for a wider variety of pets. Sign up for email updates about future additions and improvements to TailTrax.
  6. Will TailTrax work on any device I own?
    • TailTrax is available on IOS, Android, and web based devices.
  7. Are there going to be other in-app features offered over time?
    • We are always working to improve functionality and add new features.
  8. What if I have a suggestion for a function?
    • We would love to hear it! Email us at [email protected] and your suggestion could be included in a future update.

Veterinary

  1. Is TailTrax going to add a lot of work and record keeping to my practice as we are already very busy?
    • No. TailTrax is designed with the help of professional vets with the expressed goal of being a tool, not a burden. It is designed to be quick and easy to search, enter information, or send an alert to other vets caring for the brothers, sisters, and parents in the litter of the pet you care for.
  2. Why would I want this app if we already have an electronic medical record (EMR)?
    • TailTrax is not an EMR system. It is a real time health alert and search system linking an entire litter and their parents, with the purpose of providing you with information to better care for your patients.
  3. What are some of the benefits of TailTrax for me and my practice?
    • You have access to real time litter and parent health information that has never been available in your profession before, enabling you to better care of your patients.
    • It gives you the opportunity to expand your professional network and speak with vets outside of your immediate area.
      • It has been expressed how communicating with regionally spread vets that care for others in the litter would be a benefit by helping determine if a complex case has a genetic or environmental cause.
    • With TailTrax, you will eventually have a data base of health at your fingertips, searchable for research by region, breed, dog origin, disease, etc.
    • Preventative care plans for pets in the litter can be created based on specific real time information, not just general breed based information.
    • TailTrax’s real time health information may help you focus required testing and screening of your patients.
  4. Will Tailtrax make me liable for privacy violations of my patient?
    • No. In order to complete profile creation, each user must accept Terms and Conditions which allow Veterinary Doctors to share patient health information.
  5. Will my clients be able to see my communication with other vets or send alerts to other vets?
    • No. We designed vet to vet communication to be completely independent from pet parents, ensuring that you are only receiving information from trained professionals. and pet parents can not send messages to other vets or alerts to vets.
  6. What if I don’t see the illness I want to send as an alert in the check box categories?
    • Please add it under “other.”  You have the ability to use the Notify TailTrax section to inform us of the condition and it will be added to the disease checkbox for future use.
  7. Can I log on the practice or does each individual doctor and nurse or assistant need to log on?
    • We have gone back and forth speaking with vets on this and it seems being able to register the practice was the best answer for making the tool useful. That way you can secure log on in the morning to computers and tablets and have the app available in each room and office for the day.
  8. Will I be able to notify my patients if I get an alert that is serious about their litter?
    • Yes. You are able to send an alert to your patients when needed. For less time sensitive alerts, the information will be readily available.
  9. Can my patients use TailTrax to send me questions?
    • No. Based on the opinions of your colleagues, we concluded that it is best to give vets the ability to send alerts or messages, not receive them. After receiving an alert from their vet, the patient will need to use the traditional channels of communication (Phone, email, etc.).
  10. What are some other functions of TailTrax that will be coming out?
    • The scope of animals covered by TailTrax will be expanded beyond dogs.
    • We are constantly improving the functionality of the app and are in process of adding appointment reminders for use with your clients.
    • Making TailTrax a more useful tool for your practice is a priority as we strive to create features and improvements for the app.
  11. How can we help on the app?
    • TailTrax is a free, user driven app. So we urge you to recommend it to your patients. This will aid in making TailTrax the most effective it can be at improving the health of your patients. Please let all you clients know about it.
    • If you would like a TailTrax tear off prescription pad to give to your patients’ families, please email us at [email protected] with your address and we will get it in the mail.

  1. I am excited about registering my dog, should I contact my breeder to set up the litter?

    • When you register your dog, you can also prompt TailTrax to send an alert to your breeder to set up the litter.
    • If you can’t get in touch with the breeder or they are not setting up the litter, you can register your dog and see if their litter is already registered.
